"A de Lisboa / The of Lisbon"
This exhibition talks about Lisbon and the city's constant transformation since its foundation in the 12th century and its future.
While some may see the change as a form of death, others may see it as a necessary evolution to keep the city alive and dynamic. The death of Olisipo, the ancient Roman city that occupied the site where Lisbon is today, can be seen as the end of an era. However, the city was reborn from the ashes and gave way to a new Lisbon, with its own history, culture and identity.
"Oh cidade, meu abrigo e berço de tantos,
Como pintaremos tua história vindoura?
Neste solo que acolheu a mim e a tantos outros,
Qual será o destino que tua trajetória trará?"
Death or transformation?
Everything is subjective in the eyes of the spectator.
